EURO 2017 PROFILE: nadine angerer

They were some of the enduring images of the EURO 2013 Final; a fired up Nadine Angerer pumping her fists after saving two Norwegian penalties in front of a packed Friends Arena.
Angerer’s saves would prove crucial to Germany claiming their 8th European title and the custodian claiming a record equaling fifth continental championship.
“Of course the final was one of the most intense and most exciting games I’ve ever played,” remembers Angerer. “The whole tournament was amazing. “We were such a young, inexperienced team but we were always able to find a solution when we didn’t perform well.”
EURO 2013 was supposed to be the dethroning of Germany as the undisputed Queens of Europe. A host of injuries to key experienced players forced then coach Silvia Neid into selecting a host of youngsters barely out of the youth squads.
