At 4.05pm on Sunday, 7 December 2014, Samantha Kerr was on top of her game.
The most influential player in the Aus-tralian W-League’s most dominant team, the forward had just weeks ago assisted Perth Glory in claiming the 2014 premier-ship; the first silverware in their history.
Now, in the final round of the regular sea-son, she had just scored her 11th goal of the season for the Glory against Canberra United. The euphoria of that moment made what was to come ten minutes later all the more crushing.
Assisted by a Perth trainer, Glory, and Matildas, supporters held their breath as Australia’s most in form attacker hobbled off the Canberra pitch.
The news the following day was not as bad as it could have been (a second ACL) but a setback nonetheless with scans revealing joint surface requiring surgery.
